ANGLE INSTALLATION 2015

Ominous, but intoxicating strains of a slow, glowering synthesizer lures the explorer below the surface and into the dark, to emerge finally in the aquatic sanctum of a menacing, but fantastical sentry. Hypnotized by melodious meanderings and mesmerized by swirling eddies of glittering bubbles and golden motes, the wise traveller slowly senses the true muddiness of the water – in the mounting ambiguity of its sole denizen. Is its presence that of a malignant sphinx or a cryptic, but innocent nymph, a nightmarish ghoul, or a benign companion?

And what does that mean for the soul of our traveller?

Mixed media installation.

"Consider the subtleness of the sea; how its most dreaded creatures glide under water, unapparent for the most part, and treacherously hidden beneath the loveliest tints of azure..... Consider all this; and then turn to this green, gentle, and most docile earth; consider them both, the sea and the land; and do you not find a strange analogy to something in yourself?"
