IRRTÜMER III
LANDESBÜHNEN SACHSEN 2016
The 2016 incarnation of the Landesbühnen Sachsen's annual "Irrtümer" theater festival was conceived as a tribute to myth and fairytale.
Aided by larger-than-life sculpture, epic soundtracks, and surreal animations, our visitors donned the mantle of the heroic protagonist, passing first a fantastical threshold to finally discover the inner reaches of outer space.
The massive steel and fabric "Cave" sculpture, conceived, designed, and partially constructed together with scenographer Lana Ramsay, stood sentinel at the entrance to the theater from October 2016 through February 2017.
Each room of the building, including its back and front courtyards, served as its own staging area, featuring an array of imaginative installations, theatrical interventions, and informative exhibitions by numerous designers.

"We shall not have even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world."
